Random true story from Rwanda, 2012(?). Dustin and I missed our flight to Burundi and had to buy two tickets on a puddle jumper leaving in 11 hours. So we could wait it out in the terminal...or take a two hour bus to the jungle and go looking for apes. So we get lost in a dense jungle, catch fleeting glimpses of all sorts of animals, get caught in a rainstorm, snap this photo realizing it could be our last, then somehow magically find a road and flag down the last bus leaving back to Kigali. .
We get on the bus soaking wet, me squeezing in next to a little Rwandan old man with a cardboard box full of live chickens, praying we make our flight out and smiling ear to ear at the adventure we had just been on. Coincidentally, that is the moment Texas released bar results and I found out I'd passed the bar, leading to a round of high fives with a bus full of confused locals cautiously smiling at the tattooed musungu doing a happy dance and laughing vigorously ๐ What a fun, wild journey this life is.
